In the work series future roads present cars I am translating different forms of highway bridge pillars using a variety of materials available to me. The ongoing series creates an imaginary highway caught under construction before the road is laid. Form and function are reinvestigated in new terms I define. Materials are cast, fired, cut and bought. Often materials used for production later reappear as components.
The title of the series is a quote taken from a text by N. Katherine Hayles Complex Temporalities in Living and Technical Beings, in this text she discusses the co-evolution of objects and human beings.
