In HANDLE WITH CARE, I remade banana boxes from lime wood sourced locally in Hamburg. Each box is hand-carved with motifs from different banana importing companies. The boxes function as a sculpture while also being a carrier, a presentation for a scenario of moving. I chose the motif of a banana box as I also use them as moving boxes when I move house. Terracotta household objects are in the process of shifting between the boxes and the vitrine shelving, unclear if they are moving in or out. In this work I couple the personal act of moving house with the topic of global mobility, with objects that sit between the highly individualised, and delocalized mass production.
