Language Exercises

In Language Exercises, I construct sentences that mimic language learning textbooks, where cultural norms are encoded as grammatical facts within "right" or "wrong" exercises. The work explores how language instruction naturalizes the behavioral standards of a particular culture. By leaving the verbs blank, the prescribed actions remain suspended, revealing the moment where they could be enacted or refused.
